An important meeting with a large number of shareholders, government officials and business owners was welcomed by the Philippine Industry and Trade Ministry. “The ministry now acts as the creditor of Halal certification companies,” said Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Philippines, Abdul Ghani Maktuman.

The vice president of the department for export marketing at the ministry also said Halal trade has become widespread and the annual growth in the world shows that its value is expected to reach 5 trillion US dollars by 2030.

At the gathering, the participants called on authorities to address the needs of the population of nearly 10 million Muslims in the Philippines by attracting more tourists from the Muslim world.

The meeting also highlighted the disregard of Philippine officials in Halal trade in recent years and called for the resolution of problems
